FuelForm was built by endurance athletes and sports scientists who got tired of bonking on race day despite months of training. After years of experimenting with fueling strategies — some successful, most not — and diving deep into the peer-reviewed research, we built the tool we always wished existed: a calculator that actually accounts for your body weight, sweat rate, race duration, and conditions.
We've raced triathlons from sprint to IRONMAN distance, run ultras, and logged thousands of miles on the bike. Every formula in FuelForm was validated against both the research literature and our own race-day experience.
Our Mission
No athlete should bonk because of bad nutrition advice. We're building the most accurate, accessible race fueling calculator available — one that gives every athlete access to the same evidence-based approach that elite athletes and professional sports dietitians use, without the $300/hr consultation fee.

Jeukendrup — Multiple Transportable Carbohydrates
Asker Jeukendrup's landmark research showed that combining glucose + fructose allows athletes to absorb and oxidize up to 90–120 g of carbohydrate per hour — roughly double the single-source limit. This is the direct basis for FuelForm's carb-per-hour targets, scaled to your body weight and race intensity.
ACSM Position Stand — Exercise and Fluid Replacement
The American College of Sports Medicine's position stand on hydration defines individualized fluid replacement strategies based on sweat rate, body weight, and environmental conditions. FuelForm's fluid targets (400–800 ml/hr) come directly from this framework, adjusted for your estimated sweat rate.
ACSM & Burke — Sodium for Endurance Athletes
Research from Louise Burke, Roger Maughan, and the American College of Sports Medicine documents that sodium supplementation during events longer than 2 hours significantly reduces hyponatremia risk, maintains plasma osmolality, and supports fluid retention. FuelForm's sodium targets (300–900 mg/hr) are derived from this work and scaled to your sweat saltiness and conditions.
